Photo Sunday: We are Going Back!

Hey all! In two weeks time YC and I are heading back to Singapore! We will be there for about three weeks. One of YC's best friends is getting married, so we are going back for the wedding.

In honor of our second Singapore trip, here is a picture from our last trip!

One of my favorite parts of Singapore is the Marina Bay with the glowing giant trees. They are gorgeous at night. I can't wait to walk through them again.

Apologies

Hey guys.
I'm writing this post as an apology. I know I haven't posted in ages (since December) and I feel bad. I kept thinking that I should at least do a Photo Sunday, but then I kept not doing it.
A lot has been going on in my life, and I've been super busy...and when I wasn't busy I didn't really feel like posting.
In all honesty, I'm not sure how much I'll be on this blog for a bit. Because!

I am going to grad school! Well hopefully. I got accepted to a grad school, but I need to get student loans, housing, and a visa before I'll consider it set in stone. So I'm not going to announce where I am moving until it's 100%. While I may not post a whole ton in grad school, when I do post they will be longer and I will be traveling a lot.

Here's a super cute picture of my dad's new puppy as an apology. Perhaps I'll just post tons of puppy pictures until I have something else. haha

There will be some longer posts coming up in the next couple months.

March: I am going back to Charleston, this time my stepdad and YC will be joining my mom and I. Look forward to a more detailed Charleston post this time. We will be spending two days there.

May: YC and I will hopefully be going back to Singapore (yay!) for one of his best friends' wedding. I'm hoping that we will be able to schedule in a layover in Japan or Taiwan.

Summer: My mom and I are hoping to make a trip up to Boston and Salem before I leave for grad school.


Hopefully I'll also get my butt in gear for at least some Photo Sunday posts. Regardless, I at least plan on posting long posts and tons of pictures for the aforementioned posts!

So sorry again for my vacancy. I swear grad school planning stress is going to kill me.
I promise to try to post more.

Photo Sunday: The Treetop Walk in Singapore

Hello all! We had a bit of snow Friday, but it's finally sunny again. Maybe spring will happen for real soon? That'd be nice.

Since I'd rather think about warm places, I give you another picture from Singapore.

I mostly like this picture for how red and awesome my hair looks, not going to lie. It is also a good picture of the treetop walk and you can get a sense for how long it is. When I first saw the structure close ahead of me, I thought that was the end and was disappointed. Luckily I was wrong and it was much longer. It may have be sweltering, and I thought I was going to die on the way back, but it was worth it.

Mostly because I saw a monkey.

Also, I've been thinking of posting book reviews on here as well, since I read a shit ton. Would anyone be interested in book reviews? I could also just link my GoodReads here. Thoughts?

Bubble Tea is one of my absolute favorite things on earth. Bubble tea in Singapore was so much better than in the States. Here we have honey and winter melon with foam flavors from Gong Cha.

Happy Sunday! Look! I'm actually posting on time.

Clarke Quay is an area in Singapore mainly known for the nightlife. We went during the day, and I'm glad. That way I got to see all the pretty colorful houses along the water.

I love me some colorful buildings.

Singapore: The Best Vacation Ever

Hello all! Sorry it has taken me so long to post. I've been having a hard time re-adapting to this time zone and starting at my new job. Sorry.

So, here FINALLY is my post on Singapore!

First of all, Singapore is the cleanest city I've ever been to. Hands down. I have no idea how they keep it that clean, it is amazing. There's no trash anywhere. (Which may be due to the $1,000 littering fine) Everywhere feels so clean and safe. Normally when I go to a new country I'm a bit nervous about safety, but I really wasn't in Singapore.

This is one of the first pictures I took in Singapore. It is their 50th birthday this year.

Photo Sunday: Sunsets and Sorries

I am so sorry I haven't posted anything about my trip yet. I only got back to NYC on Saturday and got home Sunday night. I've been super jetlagged since then, and got a bit sick again.

I got super sick on my trip, more about that later.

I also just started at a new school today, so I'm more than a bit stressed out. This week or weekend I will write my first long post though. I'm going to do at least three posts on the trip, maybe more. So just wait, posts are coming!

For now, here is a really late Photo Sunday. I am sorry.

This photo is the sunset on my last day in Singapore. YC and I ran all around the Marina Bay Sands trying to find a view of the sunset. The one restaurant on the top blocks the view from the roof. We ended up taking this from a window in the hallway of tower one.

The clouds made the sunset a little less spectacular than I'd hoped, but it was still pretty. I really miss Singapore already.

Mostly I miss being warm, gosh darn winter.

Have any of you been to Singapore? Did you love it as much as I did? Anyone else adore kaya butter toast? My favorite.

Photo Sunday: First Day in Singapore!

So it has actually been over a week since my first day in Singapore, and I'm not even in the country anymore. I'm currently writing this post from Jakarta, Indonesia.
We've been super busy though, plus the jet lag has YC and I falling asleep pretty early every night, so this is the first chance I've had to post.

Sorry it is only a Photo Sunday. It is almost 11:00PM here, and we spent all day running around.

This photo is the first we took in Singapore!

The view is from our hotel, the Marina Bay Sands. It is phenomenal. I could never afford to stay in a hotel that nice. If it weren't for YC's awesome parents, I would never have gotten to see inside of it.

Most importantly, by staying there I got to swim in their famous infinity pool! More to come on that later.

For now I leave you with the lovely first picture and the promise of multiple posts on our adventures when I get home!

One Week Until Singapore!!

Ahhhhhh! Next Saturday YC and I leave for Singapore! I am so excited!
Nervous as well, but mostly excited!

Mostly nervous about meeting his whole family and all his friends. Ah. Deep breaths.

But oh my goodness, I get to see Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia.

Any suggestions on things to see/do/eat? We'll be in Singapore, Jakarta, and Kuala Lumpur mainly. Let me know if you have any suggestions. I know YC has lots of plans for Singapore, but we don't have as many for the other two, especially Jakarta.

So excited!

Big News!

I'm going to Singapore! I'll be visiting Indonesia and Malaysia as well!

Yc is going home to visit his family and I'm going along. I'm so excited!

We'll be bouncing around those three countries for about three weeks. I also get to meet his family. Quite nervous. 

Even though my computer is broken, I couldn't wait to share! So I'm posting this via the blogger app. Hopefully it works okay.

On Uncertainty

Since last winter I had been planning on moving to South Korea in August to teach English. I even got my TEFL certificate and had all my paperwork together. I'd even been offered the job.

Then everything fell apart.
I didn't get to go to Korea in August. I am still stuck in my hometown in the US of A.
I work two sporadic jobs and I live at home.
Hope got to go, which I think sometimes makes it worse for me.

So I decided to write a post on how I'm dealing with having my plans for an entire year crumble around me, and the huge uncertainty that followed.
